Straight answers on panels, EV chargers, and wiring older homes. For Montclair and the towns around it.

bolt Panel & Service Upgrades

How do I know if my electrical panel needs an upgrade?

expand_more

Watch for frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or leaning on power strips. A fuse box or a defect-prone brand like Federal Pacific or Zinsco is another sign. In those cases an upgrade is the safe call.

What is the difference between 100-amp and 200-amp service?

expand_more

100-amp service is common in older, smaller homes. 200-amp is the modern standard. It carries central air, an EV charger, and a renovated kitchen without overloading.

ev_station EV Charger Installation

Can I install a Level 2 charger on a regular outlet?

expand_more

No. A Level 2 charger needs a dedicated 240V circuit, like an electric dryer or oven. It also needs a permit. Some panels need a service upgrade first.

How long does an EV charger installation take?

expand_more

Most installs take a few hours. That covers mounting the unit, running conduit, and testing. A panel upgrade, if needed, adds time.
